ok so im not exactly sure what a forged bottom end includes? Im guessing its just a matter of getting a forged crank, forged pistons, forged connecting rods. Is there anything else that requires making a completely forged 346?

yes they are. the cheapest i found was an Eagle forged crank and it was like $850 shipped.

all i forged was the pistons and rods. don't necessarily see a need for a forged crank

Frging in itself does not gain you anything. All it does is take the powere you throw at it without grenading. You could get a crank with a longer stroke to give you some more cubes (ie. 383") but then you need larger heads and cam.

yeah it doesnt gain u anything but it if u want to do things right the first time, personally i would only want to drop the motor once, but i would get a forged crank so u wouldnt have to worry about it ever again, unless like it has been mentioned if u want to up the cubes.

But do a search, the stock crank has moved people into the 8's at 174mph.

Kind of off topic, how strong are the stock rods?

i have been reading they arent too bad..with arp rod bolts they can rev to 7k a few times. but they dont like a abudance of n20 or boost, just a moderate amount.

With a forged crank, and pistons stock rods with rod bolts should be fine for NA. Even forged pistons only should be fine for na. But if you want more power, like all of us do spend the moo la and get better parts.

so pretty much if im goin for a 800+ rwhp F.I. setup im gonna want better rods, rockers, springs etc? and getting everything forged is pretty necesarry? I could increase the stroke and gain some cubes but i have heard its not necesarry to acheive 800-1000 rwhp with a turbo setup. I pretty much plan to hand over my car to speedinc and let them have fun and make it a 9 sec street/track car

But nobody has broken one yet! Even harlan, with over 1200 HP, running 8's @ 170+ couldnt break the stock crank due to overpowering it. I think saying you'd get a forged one for safety's sake is like installing seatbelts on the livingroom sofa. If youre going to keep the stock stroke, its certainly not necessary to forge the crank, although certainly some people decide to anyway.

Ny stock crank on my old car held 715 hp to the wheels but I was toldthat they max out at 750hp to the fly. I don't know if I got lucky or they can hold more than that

lol, i dont know what to tellya, thats just the way i feel about it.yeah, u should really upgrade everything in the valvetrain.
and about getting that power on stock cubes, that depends on what setup your going with and how big of a turbo u want to throw on there.
