Guys, stop assuming that it "may" or "may not" need a shim based on what someone posted. You wanna do it right ? - Borrow or Invest into a micrometer and spring pressure meter, and see for yourself. That's the only way to be sure...

No LSx is the same, what works for one person might nor work for you.
People randomly bolt on various parts, and end up busting their springs at 3000 miles...there is reason for that: bad specs, bad geometry, clerance....I doubt even half of us DIY'ers actualy checks for that....

To further the review of these PRC's in this thread (I've just ordered up a set from TSP... thanks guys!) is there such a thing as "too much spring" for a cam? I'm running a cartek 2x in my car (224/228 .581/.588 on a 113).

I think not. However sometimes I wonder how these big bad dual springs treat your OEM lifters? How many of you running these PRC duals with zero problems and your stock OEM lifters?

Are the PRC dual springs different that Patriot dual golds and if not, are they very similar springs? Please enlighten me here and what spring is better and are the prices comparable? Which spring is more widely used these days also with great success?

Both of the spring kits are made by the same manufacturer. It is my understanding that the PRC Platinums can deal with a little more pressure than the PP Golds, but I've never tested that theory.

I run the PRC Platinums on my F13 cammed forged 347 and have no issues at all. Great spring kit.
