Default Cam only

I have a stock A4 LS1 in my 98 Z28. What kind of performance increase, if any, would I get from a cam only installation? I would keep everything else as is............I do have a 3.73 gear in car.

Every car is different but I would say 15-25hp would be a safe guess. If you were to open the exhaust up and the intake (ls6 intake, lid), you might be closer to 30-40+hp. On top of what you would gain off the exhaust and intake work.

Get a converter before you get a cam.

As Orangeapeel said, get a stall, and if you want to keep your stock manifolds, you can look into the TR Cheater cam.

Converter before cam.

Bolt ons (especiallay exhaust) before (most) cams.

Quality tuning after cam swap.

You almost certainly do not want to swap cams while keeping everything else stock. There is virtually no reason to do so.

Read the stickies in the new enthusiast, internal and external engine forums. Use the search button. Also check out the automatic transmission section.
