Interesting, I just got off the phone with Brian @ TSP and he said they would not run anything over 11.5:1 with that cam in our heat.

With a .051 cosmetic head gasket (when torqued 0.045), 64cc heads, -8 diamond pistons I should be right at 11.25:1. He said I should be fine and with the 90/90 should put down around 530-550 with full timing on an N/a tune. That makes me feel a bit better.

When ordering, I tried to make sure I don't lose the drivability of the car and want to retain the "fun" in it. If I want to get nuts with it, I can just drop the timing, throw some race gas in it and throw the happy gas on it.

Thanks for the help guys.

As for as 11.1:1, -8cc pistons with 64cc heads on a 408 is more like 11.4-11.5:1 with a .040" Cometic.

The DCR is barely 8.0:1 with such a low SCR and would result in less than stellar power. Mill the heads .030" down to 59cc to get over 12.0:1 SCR and the DCR up around 8.4:1. That's a big cam and can take a lot of compression easily. It'd still be pump gas friendly and would make a lot more power everywhere.

Also, look here for a description for choosing the optimal cam I wrote a little while ago: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....61&postcount=3
I must be an idiot. Using that calculator that I was linked to, I got 10.9 DCR That cannot be correct. I have no idea what I'm doin wrong

Are you putting in numbers for .050" or .006"?

.006" is what's needed to determine the advertised Intake Closing timing (Angle or ICA) in degrees ABDC.
