Default What pushrod length with 1.486 base circle and 5.3 heads milled .015

My cam has a 1.486 base circle and my heads are 5.3 heads milled .015, stock gaskets. What would be my theoretical pushrod length?

Hate to say it, but I think the best way to know is to measure. I got an adjustable PR length checker. What you do is put it in and adjust it till it's at zero lash, and then add however much preload you want. That number you get is the PR length and you round to the nearest PR length.

I understand and fully agree, but what I was looking for was theoretical size as compared to stock. If the 2 were close then I know I am in the right ball park. Unfortunately when I did the pushrod checker it cam out to 7.250 (.050 per turn) + .100 preload puts me at 7.35 (what I currently have). The problem is the valvetrain is very loud and I am thinking that the pushrods are too short.

1.553- 1.486 = 0.067
0.067/ 2 = 0.0335
0.0335 - 0.015 = 0.0185

7.40+ 0.0185 = 7.4185

Assuming you are running stock gaskets you need 7.40 p-rods.

Thanks. Looks like I need to take a Caliper to the pushrod checker once it is extended.
