Default 1.85 Rocker arms help!

I need all the bolt on power I can get so I am looking at buying a set of rockerarms. I would like them to be light so I guess they will be Aluminium? At the moment I have a stock cam and heads but will upgrade in the future probably 1 to 2 years time.I need to know what rocker ams to buy wich will give me the most power I can get with my stock cam and can I do this and still be compatible with bigger cams in the future. I am planing on a nitros system soon does this matter in rocker arm selection?????

Don't rule out the Comp Pro Mags. Even though they're made of steel Comp says they're not that heavy due to the design and they're strong as hell. Very well made. Not cheap, but what is. I've been using a set for over 5 years and 35K miles with no problems.

Check out the Comp Cams #1500 system.

Shaft mount, adjustable rolling rockers.

That is what I plan on using. At least then you will be able to adjust your preload when you get the cam you want.

At $1,147.00 the 1500s should adjust their own preload. I thought the Pro Mags were expensive at $500 a set. If you want shaft mount look at the Jesel SS series. They don't cost nearly as much as those Comp 1500s. Those things must be geared toward race only applications at that price.

I am running the Cranes, they are a good option as well. They are quiet and fit under stock centerbolt covers with no modifications.

I think most/all those options come in under $1500?

http://www.vincihighperformance.com/superwebdeals.HTML says $699.00 but, call and talk with joe vinci and mention LS1TECH. here's what the 1.8 accelerated lift rockers did on the wife's cars with stock heads and cam on stock tune as well.

dyno 9 before
dyno 11 500 miles later
dyno 14 10 months later

I installed the Comp Cams #1500 in my CTS-V and have another set ready to go in Mr. Vette.

If you want the ultimate in adjustability, they are "da bomb".

However, you will need to shim the valve cover.

1/2 " spacer from JEG'S works.

Also, you will need pushrods about 0.400" shorter.

You can get the rocker system for less then $1k from LMP.

That looks like a Roots blower on the CTS-V. I guess you put a big cam and CNCed heads on it too? You must have long tubes on it to keep it from having an ashma attack. Damn that little caddy must fly. You got to have some big fun with that thing when you pull up to a red lite next to a muscle car? Those 1500s aren't cheap and if you have to add spacers to clear the rocker covers that adds a few more hundred to the cost. I can only justify that kind of expense on a full out race application not a street car.

Well it is going to be hard to find rockers to make as much hp with a stock cam and then use them with a bigger cam later, A few years ago I wanted to make some more hp with my super charged 5.3 so I went with the Comp 1.85 rockers and it made a big difference, The 5.3 was stock, It had Supermaxx headers and flow through cats, 112 Super charger running alky injection and the 1.85 rockers and beehive springs and made close to 500 hp at the rear wheels, I run it for about three years and then went to a LS3 super charged with a Lingenfelter cam and tired the same rockers and lets just say it didn't work out so good so I got the Comp 1.7 shaft mounts #1500

Wrong! Aluminum roller rockers are all heavier than stockers, as well as having the weight in the wrong place. Keep the stock rockers even if you do serious mods later.

Remember that if you use heavier, higher ratio rockers to pick up about 0.050 inches of lift you will probably need stronger springs to control the extra loads the heavier rockers put into the system.

If you plan to spend that kind of money, do something cost effective with it, like picking up a pair of used 243 heads which can then be mildly or heavily modified to make more (or lots more) power.
