Default What should I do (cam damaged)

Well...if its not one thing its another.

I was cleaning up my cam today getting ready to install it and I noticed that the damn thing has a chip in it.

I didnt touch the damn thing...and you can clearly tell it wasnt my fault...looks like where they did some drilling in the front of the cam (where the retainer plate goes) they went to far or to high up to the surface of the lobe or something...when I noticed the void I picked at it with my fingernail and a chunk fell right off, on the first cam lobe.

Good thing I noticed...this would probably have destroyed my engine.

I didnt send in the warrant card yet...I have only had the cam for a month maybe.

I ordered it through speed inc form comp.

who should I contact? am I going to get screwed with the shipping cost? should they send me a new one before I even get the old one back? or is that asking too much?

I need to get this damn thing on the road.

before you start saying "they" screwed you, first contact the vender you bought the cam from and explain to them the problem and go from there

They will charge you for the new one when they send it to you. They will also send you a routing label, so you can ship the damaged cam back (at their cost) by dropping it off at your local UPS office. When they receive the cam they will credit you acct. I have done this a few times with no problems.
Hope this helps. Good Luck

well I sent speed inc a pic yesterday morning and described the defect.

I called them today and it seems they are acting suspicious.

All they said is that they are going to try and talk to the comp guy or something and see what he says.

Seems like they think I caused the damage or something.

I understand they have to evaluate things...I just hope I dont get the run around.

Post the pic.

Worst case scenario if they try to jack you around, call credit card company and have charges reversed due to manufacturing defect, then order from somewhere else.

But if the vendor is reputable, I'm sure they'll do right by you.

Most vendors will own up if it is their mistake anyway. They are in business for business... Losing customers is the last thing that they want to do.

I cant post the pic because it is too large. I have no program to shrink it with.

anyway I just got off the phone directly with comp.

EXCELLENT customer service form both comp and speed inc.

The guy at comp is going to do his best to get the cam ground tomorrow and he is shipping it 2 day. he said I should have it by friday or monday.

and speed inc is charging the new cam to their account...so I dont even have to worry about the charges or anything...even though if it was on my account it would be refunded, it was still very cool of them to take care of everything for me.

the comp guy said he had never seen a problem like this before and he is very interested to take a look at it so it doesnt happen again.

thanks to both speed inc and comp....excellent customer service...I am very pleased.

my heads got here today also...but I still dont have the cometics. If all goes well the beast should be up and running next week
