Default SDPC Cometic Gaskets

I was shopping around for gaskets and i saw SDPC cometic prices...
http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/3594...ad-Gaskets.htm

The price says it includes 2 gaskets?? why so much cheaper than everyone else? Also the 4.00" gasket does not list a compressed thickness, does anyone know the specs on those. They will be going on 6.0L (stock shortblock), do I need a larger gasket like a 4.01 or 4.03?

Says Quantity 2, guess I was thinking that's how many you would get instead of how many you need...lol anyway what about the specs?

I would get a 4.030 gasket for a 4.00 bore.

How come?
I've got a 6.0 I'm building up and haven't got any head gaskets yet. I figured 4.00 would be fine?

the bore on a 6.0 is actually a hair over 4.0...it is like 4.0007.

Your head gasket bore should be slighlty larger than the bore of the cylinder...for clearance.

Just like running 3.905, 3.910, and 4.00 head gaskets on a 3.898 bore ls1. I dont think anyone uses a 3.900 bore gaskets on ls1 cars.

a 4.00 bore gasket on a 4.00 bore cylinder wouldnt be a good idea.

You should go with a 4.030 like mentioned before.

I currently have stock GM gaskets which are 0.056" compressed if I remember correctly. I'm considering going to a thinner gasket to get a better quench area, but should I go with a 0.051 or 0.045 gasket? Is the 0.005 gain from going to a 0.051 worth it?

I have to pull the head anyway since I have a couple manifold bolts that are stripped, but was wondering if the 0.051" would be a worth while swap.

as long as you dont run into any p to v clearance issues or problems with running pump gas...a thinner gasket is always better.
worth it for the money? probably not from just going to a .051...but if you go to a .045 or .040 gasket I think that it is worth it.
I think the compressed thickness of the graphite gaskets are .054...and the mls is .060.

Most would agree that a .040 gasket on an ls1 is the thinnest one should run on the street. In my situation the .040 cometic was well worth it. I had to do no milling of the heads, it made my quench very tight, my static compression will now be about 11:1 and my dcr is about 8.66. Right in the sweet spot.
I bet they will give me at least 10-15 more horespower over running a stock gasket.

Run a .040" if you got the clearance.

Thanks guys for the responses. I think I have the clearance, but I'm not sure. I'm running a TR 224/224 with a .571/.566 lift. My heads are milled, but I'm not sure how much and the head porter isn't in business anymore, so I'd have to do some calulations to figure that out. I guess I could put some clay on the piston and lightly bolt the head down and then spin the motor by hand to figure out where I'm at clearance wise.

Most likely at this point, I'd probably go with the 0.045" gaskets. That combined with an underdrive pulley should net me a nice 15-20hp gain for not too much money or work.
