Make sure the PCV valve is good and the hose is not cracked. Mine ran like shat until I found a small split in the hose. It was hard to see and could not hear the hiss until I yanked on it.

Ding..Ding...Ding....Ding...Ding..
We've got a winner! The coil pack was not connecting..with double click with spark plug wire on the number seven cylinder
Swapped the coil pack out for a new one and lo and behold! The cars as smooth as silk..
Cars what its supposed to be...
Just a heads up..NO codes..no nothing but the problem made the car run rough! Swapped out the coil pack and the cars running awesome!
Thanks guys for your insight.

to test the coil pack, put a plastic straw on each tube of the headers pipe to see if any change of the straw heating or melting means the coil pack is good, if it doesnt heat or melt the coil pack is bad, i have this problem right now.

each exaust tube's(8 total) on headers (4 on each header) should heat up, dont put your finger to test it, just use something else such as paint or baby oil to see if it fumes, if it doesnt you have a bad coil pack on that number of exaust header area. good luck troubleshooting sir. nice car btw

That's an excellent way to check if the cylinder is firing ,,,,,,,,,,but a cylinder not firing can be caused by 1 or more of any # of things from low compression , which has many possible causes , to clogged injector , or weak fuel pump or fuel filter , fuel pressure regulator . I've seen bad cylinder misses caused by loose screw on adaptor on a spark plug .................etc

well now that you mention that, i think there might be a loose screw on adapter spark plug- since the car was just fixed, i will tell the mechanic to check on them because i dont think i had that problem, the car was running fine, no idle issues or anything rough. i would have noticed because i traveled to cities away on express way was very steady till the headgasket started leaking.
thank you sir!

Hey Keep It Simple, check the spark plug wires. In the 13 years I have owned my 99 Z, I have never replaced factory coil pack. Just test them for too much resistance, a broken wire (or wire insulation) will cause a rough idle that can go away if you move it as in replaceing the spark plugs for instance.
