Default T-rex on 35th anniv. SS

Hey guys i was thinkin about gettin a T-rex cam with new pushrods, springs the whole package for my 02 ss M6 but i was a little worried how street drivability would be. Will you be able to catch if you're at the stop lights and decide to floor it? Are you going to be able to notice the difference in the low-mid rpm ranges? So far my mods are Qtp longtubes, Ory, 4.10's in the stock 10 bolt,275/40/17 m/t drag radials. Would i be satisfied with this cam on and off the track? What do yall think?

IMO its more of a strip cam
i would say your 4.10's are a minimum for this cam. The cam isnt gonna show much down low, but the power will come on and it will come on hard.
I would sacrifice 10whp and choose a less aggressive cam with more low/midrange if this was a car i drove on the street.

my .02

I'm probably going to go with this cam but it is mostly a max-effort high rpm cam. You will def. notice a loss in low rpm ranges. I have heard that the stock LS1 cam makes more low end torque than the TRex. My car will be a daily driver with a 4000 stall and 3.73s. I am going with it for the sound and the power when you floor it. Lower torque doesn't matter to me really because when you stomp it you are going to see the high range RPM power. If you are wanting a car with a lot of power under the curve I would look at different cams.

I saw Patrick G reccommend the following cam to someone wanting a large cam with more power under the curve: 239/247 .649/656" 109LSA +1
It would be on LSK lobes and have a higher DCR and provide more power under the curve than the TRex cam. I'm no cam expert but that should get you started.

It's going to be a cam on/off feeling. You will lose your low end but your gears will help until your 10 bolt gives up the ghost, and it will eventually with a steeper gear. Great cam, but since you mentioned it will be your daily driver, don't get caught up with peak numbers. There's a few other cams out there that can get you within 10-15 peak rwhp, but actually have some torque at 3k. The G5X3, TSP 231/237, TRak, are all cams worth looking into that can get you north of 400 rwhp with bolt ons. I ran a 228 588 cam on a 112lsa and low end was decent. I dynoed 387 at the wheels with only cam/longtubes and a tune, not even a lid at the time.

You don't need those kind of gears on the street. He will be going 60 in 6th gear and be at 2800 RPMs. That is not what you want to do. Use the 4.10's and make sure that you have unmodified stock heads, or aftermarket heads that are 100% sure to clear. The other way is to always double check. Don't allow people on the internet or over the phone to tell you that "It will fit". Find out for yourself for peace of mind.

No, this car is not my daily driver. It is a weekend car if even that. I wanted a little info on how drivability would be. I just wanna be able to drive around a little in it and go to the track also and be satisfied with both.I jus wanna make sure im Picking the right cam since there's so many out there. Im pretty sure i'am but keep the posts coming...Thanks for all the help

I think that you should get a good split grind and spray a 200 shot ontop of it. Should be nice N/A as well with a healthy exhaust duration.

I think that cam I mentioned above and a a set of CNC LS6 heads would work great-and absolutely love a 200 shot.
