not only will stock pushrods bend easily under the added valve spring pressure, theyre .050 short for most cam base circles.

With the LS6 valves being longer and using a small base circle cam, I thought stock pushrods were a tad too long... LS6 and LS1 use the same lenght pushrod. LS6 (Z06) has smaller base circle cam, same lenght pushrods and longer valve stems to make up for the smaller base circle on the cam.

That's how I recall the setup. Too lazy to search right now, so I could be completely off base here also.

You raise a good point, but I believe the ls6 heads actually use regular steel ls2 valves, though im not sure if they are longer than ls1 valves or not. Or the ls6 heads could have aftermarket valves installed in vhich case theyre probably normal ls1 length. I guess we need more input.

Could be he's talking about LS6 style heads, but in any case stage 2 patriot is 2.02/1.57 valves, aftermarket.
And the answer TTT is NO, I wouldn't use the stock p-rods.

I'm thinking LS6 is too generic of a term now days. I was referring to a LS6 (243) head in a C5 Z06. This head has the hollow intake and sodium exhaust valves. These valves are a bit longer for reasons already stated.

Now then, if you are talking about run of the mill 243 castings (believe these were used on later C5s and the LS2 C6) they have stock valves (same length as LS1).

If you've got the motor apart hardened pushrods can't hurt, kinda depends on how agressive your cam is.

Don't LS6's use sodium filled titanium valves?

On a real LS6 motor from a c5 z06, yes.

However many companies that sell CNC ported LS6 heads are actually LS2 Heads, since the casting is identical, but the LS2 valves are less expensive. Like predator-Z said, the stage 2 patriot heads have aftermarket stainless valves.

I have a comp 212/218 .523 .529 lift. will stock push rods be enough? I am running LS6 springs. Comp says no. but I'm sure they wanna sell push rods! The LS6 springs don't have the spring pressure of comp springs. I'm sure if i step up to comp springs I may need them. But I can see that small of cam needed such a heavy push rod.

The 02+ Z06 cam has the following specs: .551/.555 217-204dur 117.5lsa (E/I) . As these motors used the same push rods as the LS1, I'm don't see why you'd need different PRs.

Yeah, you can reuse them.
