Default Is is possible for lifter to go bad.....

from being takin out and reinstalled??? put a set of heads on the car and when i got everything back together with new header gaskets/header band clamps/rocker preload set right (non-adjustable), there is an annoying tick which appears to be coming from driverside. my first impression from the sound would be a header gasket type noise, but they are bran new and have been re-torqued numerous times after cool down. so than a few people have mentioned lifters. i should have replaced them but since there wasnt a problem with them before i didnt think of it at the time. is it possble for 1 to go bad just from takin it out and re-installing??? im not losing oil pressure at anytime...car runs fine and appears to have plenty of power its just got this tick that annoys me and sounds like it will cause a problem if i let it go. its embarrasing cause it allmost sounds like a light valve tap. anyone run into this problem han can shed some light?? thanx

I guess you could have a bad rocker, or maybe it is not correctly seated on the valve, but lifters do go bad, stock rocker?

Happened to me. One of my lifters was bleeding down but it was due to bad oil pressure. Replaced oil pump and all went away.
