another ticking thread.... :)
ok so i just had the car tuned and took the car down the road and made a few WOT runs... and now above about 3k i get a tickin noise... sounds like its coming from the passanger side...the rev limiter was changed from stock to 6700, now before i pull the valve cover and replace the push rods... which i need to do also...(btw what is the stock length)......what else could it be....
Stock pushrods are 7.4".
Did you take the car to 6700?? You don't have upgraded springs on the car from what I see in your sig. This is a BAD idea.
If you want to spin the car that high (and with a stock cam there is absolutely no point) you should get a set of springs that can take it and some hardened pushrods. While you're at it throw in a cam that actually works into that RPM range.
I'm not trying to say the worst here but you probably floated valves on a few cylinders and your pistons might have little smiley faces on them now. It might not be too bad though.
Take your pushrods out and roll them on a sheet of glass/other perfectly flat surface. Chances are a few of them might be bent. Replace them as necessary. If they ticking still doesn't go away after that you might have some other issues. It's possible to bend valves if you float them too hard but one of your pushrods would have to be pretty mangled to allow that to happen. Usually you see that on bad 3-2 mis-shifts at the track (mechanical over-rev condition).
Best of luck... stop spinning the motor that high!
