Default How much play should I have in my rockers?

Took the rocker/valve cover off tonight to have a look see, because my engine is making a bit of a rattly noise and thought I'd see if anything was loose. All looks pretty neat in there, which is good, but I gave the rockers a bit of a wiggle with my hand anyway... 7 of them (only did one side) move sideways very slightly - 1 of them didn't seem to, but I presume it might be under tension from a pushrod or something. Is this normal, or should there be no play at all?

Are they easy to get in and out to inspect the pushrods?

They will have a little side to side play.

Sounds like there is nothing to worry about then - I'm pretty sure the noise is timing chain related, but it is so little effort taking the rocker covers off, thought I'd have a look-see anyway

Thanks,

Robin
