Default Broken rod bolt?

How many have broken a rod bolt? How high were you spinning the motor? What year was the motor? How much damage was done?

I'm just trying to decide how necessary it would be to change to Katech rod bolts for a cam only car with a 228/228 cam that spins to 6500RPM.

I been spinning my 98 to 67-6800 for over 100 passes without an issue but it could spin a bearing tomorrow. You never know, I just swap cam's & have my car up in the air prepping to swap the k-member & new rod bolts for peace of mind.

I have gain a few 10ths shifting higher being that my car is an auto & this vig3200 has a poor shift extension. I've been shifting at 6750 & it drops to 4800 via EFI log (the stock tach is just slow). With good rod bolts the stock bottom end can handle alot. I plan on keep raising the shift point until my times stop improving. With a good cam/tune you won't make any more power after peak but it should flat line. And with the high shift point you will be farther in the power band on your next gear. I just like to get everything out of my set up as possible before my next mod. Sorry to carrier on
