What temp. are you guys running?
Secondly, the fact that I had heat damage to the top of #7 piston when my car overheated to engine shut off, thought that perhaps it is an engine cooling issue that causes so many to lose #7; not a lean condition. Mine was definately related to overheating as it was the top of the piston nearest the valley that was damaged. So, when the engine overheated, the area around #5 & #7 got the warmest. Had a lean condition caused the problem, it would have been closer to the plug. Looks like that even under normal running conditions, that the hottest point on the block is @ the top of #7 because of coolant flow. Am thinking that when the engine is reading 180 deg F, the area around number 5 & 7 could be 10+ degrees warmer. Anyone else have an opinion about this?
