Default removing engine from the top

I got the engine down to the block. I just need to remove all the grounds and whatever is still attached.

Now. I am wanting to leave the tranny in when I do this. So all I need to do is support it with a jack correct? as I unbolt it from the engine.

Now once I have everything removed and the tranny unbolted, is it just lift and pull out? is there anything else I should know before I do this?

Ya put a jack under the trans and leave the trans mount bolted to the car. After everything is un bolted you might have to take two screw drivers and pry the bell apart from the block.

its a lot easier if u take the tranny out with the engine, all at once. trying to re connect the two while the engine is in the bay can be very fun

Also is this like the ultimate time for a clutch swap? if I decide to pull both the motor and tranny?

Seriously!. I am sure there is not that much more involved in this. Its just doing it for the first time that is annoying - for me atleast.

I pulled the tranny off the motor first (pics on site) only because I couldn't get the cherry picker high enough to pull both.

It's a lot easier to maneuver in and out with the tranny detached when pulling from the top. I know this from experience. It's obviously up to you and based on preference but if you're pulling from the top it's quite simple and just takes some adjusting using a load balancer. It's not THAT hard to mate the engine back up to the tranny but it is a bit tedious. This would be quite the time for a clutch swap but then again that's adding to the mix of trying a bunch of new things at once, which if something does go wrong (we're all praying nothing does) will leave a lot to question. It's up to you though, installing a clutch with the engine out is pretty much cake, just whether you wanna add it into the mix. If it were me doing it myself, I'd probably just ride out the clutch you have now and then have a reputable shop do it in the future so you can hold someone else accountable for getting the install perfect. Clutches can be a huge bitch.

alright cool. I ll just do that then. I mean I can definitely see something going wrong with the clutch swap and the engine swap. So both at once would not be to good.

I am going to get the tranny dettached tommarow and hopefully get the engine out as well.

Alright I am going to leave the tranny in then.

Now how many bolts is it to disconnect them? I think I saw all of them...are there any hidden up top?
