Default 300+ miles to get tuned, ok to drive?

Well one of the big issues that's stopping me from getting a cam is the fact that it's a 300 mile +/- trip to get a dyno tune (if I'm going to the time and expense to get a cam I want the most hp I can get out of it)
Would it be ok to drive the car that far untuned, or would I be better off getting a mail order tune (to get close) and then taking the drive
I understand the size of cam is going to affect the answer, so figure a medium size (in the 22x-23x range) cam

You'll be fine. I know a guy that has a 230ish cam in his T/A and he daily drove it and didn't get it tuned until like a year later. lol

I would say you are fine unless you are changing injectors or MAF.

Yeah, avoid going WOT, that is where danger is.

I second that, no worries. I ran my 224/224 with only a small air/fuel change using a predator programmer. It ran great and air/fuel was near perfect. However, a real tune is the way to go.

I just did heads, nice cam, headers, intake, 90mm TB, 85mm MAF, and alot more stuff and it ran sketchy at idle but did great on the highway and made a 330 mile trip to the dyno with no troubles except for a blown out front tire. Go figure. But you should be fine as long as your cam isnt HUGE!! And stay out of the upper RPM's for safety.

I ran a 224 cam untuned all last year. It ran fine. Had some trouble every once in a while at idle...but not very often at all once the comp learned it.
Youll be fine...dont even worry about it.
after about 50-100 miles it probably wont even stall on you...unless you turn on the a/c.
