Default carbon buildup on AIR motor

finally figured out what was causing my idle problems, there was a lot of carbon buildup on the AIR motor not allowing it to open and close properly.

does anybody have any ideas what would cause the carbon buildup, he tells me that the car is running rich, and on acceleration the timing drops as low as 9 degrees, i am getting no ses codes to indicate knock sensor problems. any help would be appriciated.

2000 z28 mods. cats! erg! tune. lid. cutout.

he also states that the rear o2 is not running hot enough because i took the cats off. i have stock manifolds on, i find this hard to believe.
