No more burning oil!
I put M1 5w30 in it and figured that was the end of it, the car only had 37k on the clock. Well sure enough, a month later it came back on! Now I was scared, I added a qt and watched it well, and it slowly burned away everytime.
Well, as a last resort I tried something I had never used before, on my next oil change I used castrol Syntech 10w40, and at the same time i added some c2 engine oil additive, it is supposed to stop oil burning. Well, it has been a thousand miles since then and I am still full to the top! God i am so releived, that 5w30 m1 seems to be thin. I would recomend this to anybody who is burning oil.

i was reading about it at work (i work at a GM dealership) when i was diagnosing an oil consumption problem on a 5.3L truck
I have owned 3 ls1 powered cars and run them an everything from 0w-30 to 10w-60 just to compare.
Can't honestly say in a controlled blind test i could tell the difference between any of them for engine noise or oil consumption.
My current 2005 ls6 runs on Mobil 1 0w-40 with M1 filter and uses no oil between OCI's at 10,000klms.
I use the 0w-40 because the spec sheet tells me it is one of the top 3 fully synthetic oils on the market available to me at this time.
Oil consumption will always vary between engines but if its high its an engine issue.Heavier oil is just treating the symptom not the problem.
