Default Crank plug?

What is the seal behind the pilot bearing called--at the end of the crank. When removing the pilot bering this steel cap came out. It looks like a freeze plug--sort-of. Or a cap of an old beer bottle.

Can it be reinstalled, or should it be replaced with new part?

You need to put that back! The factory manual warns using methods such as forcing grease under pressure to remove the pilot bearing, because you can dislocate this plug. I'd use a new one, it's press-fit.
