Damage to engine (pics)
Yeah, definite PTV issues.
You cannot take anyones word for it. Measuring PTV is the only way to find out. Ferrea valves loose about .020 PTV vs other valves of same size (thicker base).
Time for rebuild with forged internals and valve reliefs.

I guess even if you have P/V clearance, all bets are off if the lifter doesn't follow the cam lobe. Sucks!
Cylinder wall is cracked
Looks like I'd better start looking for a new block.
Frickin going from bad to worse.....
BTW, yes, all the pistons have "eyebrows". After talking it over we're thinking the timing chain broke. (haven'y got the timing cover off yet though since we broke the balancer puller). Just gets better by the minute

same problem with my ls6, all from ptv clearance looks like you took pictures of my motor cracked the block in two places around water jacket.. i feel your pain.....
Sorry to read about this... What was the total thickness of the head? Maybe it was milled more than .008? Also, were the 2.02 valves installed on a stock seat? This could put them lower to begin with.
Looks to me like one plunger is up against the clip and the other is not.
If it is collapsed, then if happened before or after the P/V contact is just speculation. One collapsed lifter will not cause P/V contact on all the cylinders though, so it's pretty much irrellevent.

The only reason I ask is that the last time I pulled the cylinder head while replace a broken rocker arm stud that occurred during a broken spring change, I noticed I had very small eyebrows on my pistons. I was more under the impression that it was due to the weak valve springs I had on the car with the TR224 cam and was a result of valve float.
Who knows, I have 918s on the car now, and I don't get any KR which I would expect to see if I were kissing the pistons each revolution.
Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry for your trouble, especially since I'm in the middle of a cam swap. Bore it, Stroke it, trash it for a new 427

Ahhh, the story of piston meets valve...once upon a time
Good luck
Sucks, sorry to hear. I had a valvespring broke in 04' and caused the same, pics on my site. New forged LS6 block from Lingenfelter was only $2100 ( forged pistons, stock rods and ARP rod bolts ). I couldn't rebuild it for that price.

The "tick" that it had was there from initial start-up. At first people thought it may be the wrong PR length.
Looking back on it now I wish I would've just got the new lifters when I ordered everything else

contacting the pistons. One finally gave out. You had zero clearance with this setup. Remember, EVERY setup is different and you MUST check P/V clearance when it is going to be tight.... I nailed 10 valves on my setup due to a broken timing chain, and I suspect that was also due to P/V contact from weak valvesprings and floated valves....Im still running the SAME stock lifters, but I did have to buy some new heads.
It looks like you did collapse a lifter from the impact though....
