Default A slight problem - valve spring swap

Yeah I was installing valve springs, and I dropped a lock somewhere in the valve cover area. I think it went in one of the head bolts holes right behind the valve springs, you know the really deep ones. I stuck a screw driver in there and it goes forever!! haha. Well I just wanna ask if anyone knows where this hole goes? Does it go to the oil pan or what? Thanks in advance!!

It is probably lodged in an oil passage in the block now.

Those holes go to the lifters. Look down the pushrod holes with a strong light.

pull the pushrod and try fishing it with a thin pen magnet.

Small pen magnet, or pull the heads.

I must be lucky, the pen magnet thing worked. I fished around for like 15 minutes then all of a sudden *click*. I pulled it out slowly and there it was! What a relief that is... thanks for the help guys!

We did the same thing on a buddy's cam swap but had to pull the head to get the damn thing out. Now we stuff the head bolt holes with paper towels before removing any parts of the valvetrain.

Stuff rags in all the holes before continuing, at least if you drop it it won't go in the motor.
