Default jpr cam tool question

i bought some 5/16 dowels rather than the jpr cam tool that thrunder racing offers...

i was told this will work, can anyone back it up?

anything special about the cam tool? theres gotta be a reason it costs 80 bucks

I just got done using the wooden dowel method on my car, worked perfectly.

you might wanna sand em down real quick to make em smooth

They will work fine. The JPR dowels have a flat spot on one side. I would make sure you use METAL rod instead of wooden though.

Just cut them a few inches longer than the cam and slide them in place. The passenger side should slide in no problem after you spin the cam a few times, while the driver side might need the side shaved down a bit. I used a grinding stone in my die grinder to smooth one side down so it would work in mine. Lube them up with a little motor oil and be gentle with them.

PS - I typed this out when it was still in my section, and I was going to move it afterwards. Good job on the deletion/re-posting in the right section.
