ya, man its nothing to pull the covers and rockers and check stuff out, When I did my cam install after all my rockers were torqued and re tourqued, ran the car for a little while, killed it, started it back up and had a mad tick, first I freaked out then pulled the covers and one rocker came loose, dont know why but it did, tourqued it back down and everything has been cool, for like 6k miles

I know what rod knock sounds like as well, but I am just telling you from experience. I had what sounded like a valve train tick and it ended up being a spun rod bearing. No real damage was done because I caught it early. When you hear a rod knock then you have a bigger problem. To be safe, the next time you change oil, open up the oil filter and you will be able to have a better idea of what is going on in there...

I guess if the boot wasen't connected properly it could make a tick as it jumped to ground.

Try your best to push the wires on both the plug and the coil packs. Number 8 will be a real bitch but the rest are pretty easy to get to. If it is a wire not connected right than you could also wait for night and open the hood while the engine is running and you should see which one is arcing.
