I've used sanding rolls on more than one occasion and have always seemed to have the same problem. The roll is either out of round or the mandrel won't hold it once you apply any pressure. I'm not sure if I am using the wrong sized mandrel or the wrong roll or a combination of both. Any tips is appreciated.

visit your local metal polisher(best to find one that specializes in aerospace), they will be able to set you up w/ the good commercial drums/discs/sanding materials etc.

We use the standard abrasives stuff here with great results. One thing to note-it takes considerable time to develop the "feel or technique" to get a really good surface finish. A good quality air grinder that has good torque at low speed helps too, some people use the electric grinders but they are hard to control unless you can regulate the speed down.
