Default BEST heads for me?

Whats the best heads for me under 2000$? HPE 408 with 238/242 115 lobe seperation and 610 lift cam. Would something like the predator 245cc be the best or would I be fine with 225cc?

.
You'd probably want to do some research on this .... most of the guys on the forum get all bent outta shape about people who just post "WHAT IS THE BEST BLABLABLA FOR ME" posts, without giving any kind of background info, or doing any research on their own.

Most of the time you have a cam designed for the heads you choose, and not the other way around ..... plus that's a tiny cam for a 408, so it'd probably be a great idea to upgrade anyways.

i wouldnt say its a tiny cam? its a good streetable cam which is what i want. I just dont have the experience to know what heads would be best for this cam thats why i asked here. im not planning on upgrading the cam so what do you think would work best with it?

I had a 238/242 112 in my 402 ... it is relatively tiny. The large displacement lets you get a pretty heafty cam in there w/o much of a loss of drivability. Anyways, that aside ... what kind of suggestion are you looking for? As I said earlier, you really dont match up heads to a cam .... so really all you need to do is find the best set of heads you can for the money you're looking to spend.

There are tons of heads, and everyone is going to have a different opinion on which is the best. Personally, I'd say save up you're money and get AFR's, TEA's, ETP's, etc .... I previously took the cheap way, and take it from someone who is doing it over again ... it's way better to do it right the first time.

so basically you are suggesting to save for the more expensive heads liek the ones you listed. But lets say i do go with AFRs for instance. I know 205's are out with the 408 but should I go with 225cc or 245cc?

Each are going to have their own advantages/disadvantages .... generally the larger the volume the more high end power .... but the less low end torque.

The 225's will get you more torque, and a better power band, but the 245's will loose alil down low, and outperform them up top (granted you spin the motor that high, and the motor can breath).

Thanks alot. In that case I will probably go with the 225's. How are your feelings toward Patriot Heads they seemed to be a bit less money than the other u mentioned...not as good?

I had the patriot heads .... I say they're a great value head for an LS1, but for the big strokers you need to flow more air, and that's where the AFR and others come into their own. (of course others will argue with me on that point, but oh well, I've had both).

OK, here you go but keep don't announce it to the world before they sell out of their DART HEADS asap and we have to wait for ours via backorder, but as we speak, SUMMIT RACING has a SALE on their fully assembled DART 225 heads which i have heard nothing but great things about for under $1,300 shipped and brand new (and of course no core charge).

I just orded my DART 225s for my Blown D1SC forged 347 LS6 motor in my o2 Z06 yesterday and tell me where you are going to beat that price on a pair of killer heads like this brand new and fully assembled!!

They have a flow chart for these heads anywhere? I've heard some good things about the Dart heads as well.

That is a baby cam for big cubes. I have a 242/248 in my 346

I would save up some cash and get a set of heads you won't regret down the road. If you are going to be paying to build a 408, why not spend a grand more and do it right? I would look into the ET 245's and a larger cam. The ET 245s flow like crazy-I've actually heard of a few guys switching from a FAST setup to a Victor Jr. or other sheet metal intake to keep up with it's flow. Have fun!

There is no longer a PRC version of the Darts, they had a smoking issue and TSP discontinued them.
