I agree with the flowmaster comment... I personally saw a bolt-on car pickup 12rwhp by bypassing his flowmaster muffler with a cutout.

Because he has 24 degrees of timing does not mean he has knock and timing is being pulled.. He said he only has a hpp3.. Different year cars have the timing set differently from the factory and the hpp3 only advance timing a little.. My 01' I think started out with 24 degrees of timing... Until Ed Wright brought the timing up to 31 degrees with cam and headers..

I dont have the Ls6 intake and I used the stock length hardened pushrods.I never said the cam sucked I said I was disapointed with the results as a direct comparision. As a direct comparision it wouldnt have been fair to the Hotcam if I got the Tr224 tuned. From my research the TR224 should have made more power as a direct swap.It didnt. Now Im curious as to what the Hotcam would have done with a bit of tuning.Im not stupid I know you wouldnt put a 422 in without tuning and I knew there was more on the table for the new cam with tuning.I guess this proves to me at least that the Hotcam wasnt so bad after all.I also only used the HPP3 to raise my rev limit. Thanks for all the input.

The TR224 kills the hotcam when tuned right. I have a TR224-112 and it runs awesome!

It's not fair to expect certain results when your setup isn't optimized.

Your Hotcam numbers are pretty close to what a friend of mine got without tuning.

When the set up isn't optimized, it's hard to get a true picture of either cams true potential. No tuning didn't help either cam and the Flowmaster probably hurt both.

I think both cams would have dyno'd better but the Flowmaster hurt. Add a cutout, it's an inexpensive mod and retest. If you go to the track the cut out will be worth what it costs.

When two untuned cams are compared the results are what they are for untuned cams and it's fair compare in that regard. With tuning the TR-224 has more potential than the Hot cam due to the extra intake duration, IMO.

Keep tweaking and you'll get more power of the TR-224.

TR224 cam likes to breath, is the TB and maf stock? if so, try a ported TB and LS6 maf.

With the TR224 on a 114 lsa, I dyno 387 rwhp on average, with stock drivetrain, no dyno tricks, no overinflated tires, no cutout, SLP dual/dual exhaust, and DYNO TUNING! See sig
