AFR HEADS 4 ME!!! Thanks junkyard!
ditto. My sister recently totalled her car and it was towed to the location of our choice, not a police lot. It could've easily been towed here to the house but since that was 200 miles away it wasn't really feasible.
Not true in Louisiana either. When I totaled my GTO (in Shreveport),I was gonna have it towed to Hilton's house...but I was able to drive it there instead and then caught a ride to work. Hilton had the N2O system was off before I went to lunch. When the adjuster looked at my car, he looked close at the engine and asked if the GTOs came with Dart heads...DOH! After he decided it was totaled, he added the value of heads/cam, wheels/tires, clutch and rear gears into the value of the car. I then bought it back for $4500. USAA treated me VERY well!

In most cases, it goes straight to the police wrecking yard, and only the owner of the car will be allowed to look at it. At this time, only personal belongings will be allowed to be removed. Deffinatlly not a chance of you getting the parts off of it in there. The good thing is, is that no one else from the public is allowed inside other than the adjuster. Once it's determined if the car is totaled or not, you will be givin the option to buy the car back, at which time you can purchase it and remove your parts. Once the car is under investigation, I believe it is property of the insurance company, and anything removed would be considered theft.

UPDATE:
All intake valves, except 2, were bent from 2-5 thoudanths of an inch. They all sealed fine though......except for two of them. AND a keeper was broken in two which my machine shop guy said he has NEVER seen in his 25+ years experience.
He said it is not uncommon to machine the valves that were bent that little....and will not sacrafice their integrity. So much for my "steal" on these heads.
DAMN JUNK YARD
