if you're just looking for the forged assembly sdpc did have a sale on them.most forged shortblocks i've seen is around 2,600-3,000 range.

very loaded question........ my 408 is costing me $17k ....... yeah i said $17k lol.... but that includes new tranny,twin clutch,dennys ds,fuel system,ported 90/90, 1 7/8" headers, labor,and of course the 408........ "JUST" building a new motor is almost impossible.

im in the same boat...called lme: about 2950 for a 347, speed inc-3k shipped, thunder-3995 (way too overpriced for a 347 IMO) sdpc- 2700

If you dont mind using the stock crank (little reason not to if youre running stock cubes) you can forge the bottom end for about a grand in parts with some careful shopping. Granted this might be a budget forged motor, but itll still handle quite a bit more than stock.

what would you get with that rods,pistons and rings?

Yeah, you can get pistons and rings, some I beam rods with ARP bolts, and spend the rest on bearings.

Ebay has a good deal on mahle pistons, rings and rods, but they use SBC style rods. They work, they just dont have the LS1 offset, which IMO isnt critical.

347 about 2700-3000, 370 3200-3600, just do a 427 LS2..lol

Mine cost me about 5200 for pistons/rods/heads and cam/clutch/rings/bearings/labor and some other small stuff.

a 370 really isnt that much more expensive than a 347. only draw back is that its an iron block.
