running royal purple 10W40. I have a lot of miles and this oil is working great, also not burning as much as the M1 would.

Would use the German castrol but couldn't find any around me.

I use bulk pennzoil 10w30 since I work at a quik lube place and change my oil when ever I want, to me oil is oil just make sure you check your level. No point of buying the expensive synthetics too me just my opinion, oil serves as one perpose, lubrication. I have tried all oils at my work and could not tell a difference at all between any of them even the synthetics.

Oil does just more than lubricate the parts.

Yes I know but its main purpose is to lubtricate. I understand that oil surves other purposes also. I have worked in the quik lube business for over 4 years, and I can tell you here is not much difference between bulk oils ans synthetics but the bottle and the price, this new mobil7500 stuff is the biggest con I have ever seen, what if your car burns oil duh. If your car burns oil it doesnt matter what kind of oil you use it will still burn the oil even if it is thicker weight viscosity. Just change you oil about every 3000 miles and check the level in between changes and you should be good.

Default The ultimate oil for LS-1

Ok chillin, listen up. ( " SYN-LUBE FOR LIFE" ) is the absolute best & I might add ,the one & only true no bull **** 100% completely synthetic all man made with no petroleum fillers. And yes, it's expensive as hell but always remember , like my Grandfather always told me, Son, it only cost a little more to go first class and buy the BEST ! RP will ruin your seals & gaskets and start oil leaks all over the place if your engine has over 75,000 miles. We used M1 5W/30 extended life & never used a drop between changes plus it stayed pretty clean for about 7 or 8000 miles but we were trying to get rid of the slap so we tried GC 0w/30 . engine ran hotter, oil pressure dropped , noise still there but a little subdued . Go figure . Used to swear by Pure one filters but later found them to be way too restrictive. Long K&N 2006 now but still can only get 5 & 1/2 quarts in . GM said to try their EOS engine supplement to soften the piston skirt slap & wear. SYN-LUBE FOR LIFE is available on the internet . It works !!

Never heard of Syn-Lube. Do you have any oil analysis on a LS1?

I have strict standards. I will only use oil manufactured by a company that is an NHRA or NASCAR sponsor. Oh wait, that's just about everybody. I just go with whatever 5W-30 is on sale. I drive my cars for 200,000+ miles and never had a problem.

I'm suprised so many people are using mobil 1, I was using it for a little while but it was going so fast every week and a half I would have no oil left. I had to switch to castrol syntec after a friend recommending it to me and have had no complaints.

Just picked up 2 more GC 0w30 oil changes and 2 more K&N filters from an Autozone on my block.

I still can't believe some people can say "oil is oil" when they have never had a single oil analysis done, or even have not likely seen data from one or tests done on oils. Guess they all have the same detergents and additives? Guess they all have the same shear strength? Guess they all have the same resistance to crush? Yeah.. whatever.. here's a 20, change my oil bitch!
