I just ordered some royal purple racing 41, which is 10w -40. I wonder if it will be worth the money.

I also just baught and oil catch can.

Do you think this will be a good oil to use or do you think I would be better off using rp 5w-30 or 10w-30.

Using Mobil 1 0w40 right now. Going to the 5w40 as soon as it hits the shelf in my area. About the time that I was gonna switch over to it, they dropped it as their Truck and SUV formula, and made that the 5w30, and the 5w40 dissappeared from the shelves all together. I have heard that it's going to re-appear labeled as "Turbo Diesel Truck" but the formula will remain the same. I have yet to see it on the shelves though, but maybe it's out there somewhere....

I've been using M1 5w-30 w/ either a K&N or M1 oil filter since I got the car and never had any issues. But I want to try a different oil after hearing and seeing tests that say the M1 is on the thin side for our motors. The GC 0w-30 is first on the list for the next change if I can find it. Amsoil looks to be the strong second choice. Would I be fine running a K&N or M1 filter with either the GC or Amsoil, or is there a better filter to use with these oils?

I have run 41 oil also. Good stuff but expensive.

Amsoil 10w-30. I have seen engines taken apart that have used different oil, and this stuff is awsome.

What type of non-synthetic oil would you guys recommend to break a motor in? I have a small stockpile of GC, but not sure what to use on the new motor at first. I bought some non-synthetic M1 5w30 to use for the first 20-50 miles, but what should I use next?

Mobil 10w30 always. Not to thin, not to thick. I add a quart on 15w40 just to thicken it up a little. My cars sees alot of revs on road coarses.
