Default Bolt Reuse - LS1 Rebuild

I'm in the process of rebulding my LS1 on a tight budget. I know the head bolts and harmonic balancer bolt cannot be reused, are there any others? Specifically, can the bolts from the main be reused?

I beleive the only bolts that can be reused from the mains are the side bolts. The 4 main bolts are T2Y like the heads.

I second that.
I was going to go stock head bolts with mine, then I though about it and figured:
"Do it once, do it right" and I got head studs. I'm not sorry I did, I just remembered how nice it is to swap heads and not have to deal with cleaning bolt holes.

I would love to go with the ARP fasteners, it just not in the budget right now. Does anyone have the GM part numbers for the main bolts?

I list part numbers 12560273 for the studs and 12560272 for the bolts.

Default why cant i reuse head bolts

i dont understand the concept of not being able to reuse a bolt. i understand that they stretch. but that does not explain why i cannot reuse them. is the strength gone from them? if that were the case, than the strength would be gone as soon as you stretched them. is it because they cannot be properly torqued again? why can i not just retorqe them to a specific torque and be done with it?

im confused?>

I'm certainly no expert but my best educated guess is because once initially stretched to proper torque specs to reuse them means they will need to be stretched even further. So once they are streched to get them to the right torque a second time will weaken them.

IMO the 50 bucks for new studs is cheap insurance.
