who makes the thickest head gaskets?
who makes the thickest head gaskets? Just bought a new 408 but was intended for use with 72cc heads with comp ratio at 13.5:1 but I have allpros with 62cc dome on pistons is 10.2cc and realize this is a race gas engine but trying to keep it within reasonable limits without making it diesel. thickest Ive seen is .074 cometecs but I didnt see if that was a compressed thickness or not. Any input is appreciated or if some one is looking for head / parts trading let me know thanks, Mason

Ive heard & read that you may find knock worse with a thicker gasket as you lose quench.
You are probably better off doing the head swap you discuss and keep quench tight, somewhere around 0.040

thanks for the reply I have gone on diamonds site and with 62cc heads it is around 14.75:1 how many ls1's are out there running that high and what fuel are they running minimum with no problems and a good tune?

I take it this is the 408 that Only 231 was selling? If so, I was looking at buying that block but you beat me to it. I had plans on ditching the domed pistons for flat tops. Might be something worth looking into.
