A last question and if you don't know it's not that important, can I with a different bellhousing (I imagine at minimum) bolt on my T56 to the appropriate bellhousing? or are the newer bellhousings matched only to what could be a newer casting or boltup pattern on later T56's? rendering my older t56 completely useless.
I thought the input shafts on the transmissions were different (LS1 vs. LT1), may be wrong but I think our trans not going to work...

ya you are going to have to change some stuff to get your LT1 trans to work in the LS1 motor, diff hydraulic system and input shaft just to name 2, and youll need a new faceplate as well if im not mistaken.

id call t56rebuilds, they did my trans and its BADASS! they are a sponsor as well.

Oh and one more thing about iron whens the last time you saw a pro stock alum?

answer 1969 427 built by grumpy.

Taking to identical engines and one being alum and the other being iron. The iron motor will make more horsepower since it does not "move" around as much.

The forced induction crowd seems to preffer iron on big power builds. SOme of the big name builders are talking about the blocks deforming over 800-1000 rwhp. Forgot what exactly started moving around in the block but it is a somewhat common problem at those power levels it seems. Pretty sure it had something to do with the piston rings loosing seal and the problem wasnt correctable as the block was failing.
