Default Odd amount of metal shavings on the drain plug magnet

Hey guys, I changed my oil yesterday for the first time since Sept. of 05 in the LS1 (Not even 3,000 miles since then) the car sat all winter and has been run only few and far between since. I always remeber getting some metal shavings off the magnet on the drain plug on the oil pan but yesterday seemed like ALOT more then before. It looked like it was well coated. I can snap a pic of the papertowl I used to clean it with, as you can see all of it. Any ideas of what could cause this? Is it just from alot of down time? BTW I also use Mobile 1. Thanks!

pic would do more good...

fwiw, you should change the oil at least twice a year, even if not a certain mileage.

as long as it was just a grey paste and no particles of size then it was probably just the length of time that those micronic sized particles had to settle out and onto the magnet. I wouldn't be concerned.
