Default 5.3 heads = P/V issue?

If I put 5.3 heads milled .015 on my stock bottom end 99Ta with a FM-11 on 112 LSA will it likely cause P/V clearance issues? Any help will be appreciated!!!

No problems, I done a set of 5.3s that had 2.02s and milled .018" with a F13 cam for a guy with no problem.

I've got 862 castings which are 5.3L and had to notch the pistons. As I recall I only had .045 on the intake. Better safe than sorry. This was with a XER 228/230 112+2

TEA told me that if you are running a cam with 230 degrees or more of duration that you should notch the pistons using their 5.3 stage 1.5 heads....milled .010 with 2.02 intake and 1.55 exhaust valves and .040 head gaskets...

It COMPLETELY depends on which valve is in there. If it is the stock 1.89 diameter stock 5.3 valve you are probably OK. If it has a stock 2.00 valve you are a little worse off, if it has a aftermarket 2.02, then watch out. I once checked a 5.3 head milled .030 with a 232/236 cam and the intake P/V was .000"

Put a REV or Ferrea 1.57 exhaust valve in it, it fits the stock seat and makes more power. I think it should clear with that intake, but it's close.

I already have the valves, so even if the valves are unshrouded will it make more power? Also will my 1.60's fit on the stock seat???

A lot of people don't realize that just because they didn't nuke their engine on start up or after a few runs, then they figure they are safe. Nothing could be further from the truth. All it takes in marginal P/V clearance situations is a missed gear, an over rev, or valve float and your motor is history.

Is this from you newest post today? 232/236 cam is the largest of the ones you used in testing. If that bad boy was able to clear then something along the lines of my cam, MTI G1 should have plenty of room.
