Welcome to LS1Tech!

What is your intended use for this S10? How much does it weigh?

Don't take any offense to this but how far along are you in the field of automotive mechanics? Are you going to be dismantling and re-assembling the motor yourself or are you going to have it done by a shop? If you want a good street cam that makes great power, G5X3 (LG Motorsports) or the MS3 (Texas Speed & Performance) are great cams to consider. A little large but definately lope like hell. If you really care that much about sound go to LS1SOUNDS.COM and click on camshafts.

doing basically the samething as you man. i have a 98 S10. i know the LS1 type engines pretty well. i couldn't afford an LS1 so i got a 5.3L LM7 complete for $450. because i like to overhaul engines that i get from junkyards because you never know what the engine has been through i dismantled my LM7 too. i thought that i was settling for the next best thing when i bought the LM7 until i saw the cylinder walls of the engine. i bored it 120 over and for what the machine shop guy told me i could have gone even more. so i have my LS1 sized LM7. i have it almost done i have bought a stock LS1 cam from ebay out of a 98 LS1. .5 lift on the intake and exhaust. and i just need head gaskets but the major part of the engine is done. hit me up if you have questions about the guts of the LS1. because of me taking the engine apart i know alot of things about it that most don't.
