Edelbrock Dyno Graph....Improvements?
202cc CNC'd Edelbrock heads (65cc combustion chambers)
Cam specs 224/228@.050 duration,.569/.572 lift, 113lsa
New lifters
Edelbrock stepped headers no cats
TR55 sparkplugs
LS1 Edit Tune (30 degrees total timing)
Just guessing, How much more power can these Edelbrock heads make by adding these mods?:
Mamo ported 90mm FAST intake
Shaving heads to 60cc
Higher lift 224/228 cam
.040 head gasket?
I have included PatrickG's most recent dyno gragh for comparison. The Edelbrocks torque curve falls off faster than Patrick's AFR 225 combo.

Obviously the Edelbrock heads (any heads) would respond favorably to the mods you mentioned....how much is anybody's guess....the operative word being guess.
Different dynos, different headers, and other variables make comparing the two products pure speculation anyway. The only way to properly guage is a back to back test on the same dyno or simply waiting for enough independent results to make a general statement as to how they seem to compare which really takes an average of all the results from the various products on the market. IMO, that is really what you should be carefully scrutinizing if your "Joe Consumer" out there trying to figure out where you hard earned dollars are best spent. All the lip service and various threads are a mute point if your product consistantly under performs out in the real world. The better stuff will always rise to the top on their own merit and results....

Edelbrocks Dynod car.............................426hp
Mamo ported 90mm FAST intake..............+20hp
Shaving heads to 60cc .040 head gasket....+5hp
Higher lift LSK 224/228 cam......................+5hp

30 more horse power............................=456hp
That would be roughly 2hp shy of Patricks 458hp number. Maybe?
But how much more would the torque curve increase?

we only made a few pulls on the dyno as it was really late the a/f as you can see was 12.3 so with more tuning there is some more power left in it, the Edelbrock heads are a very nice set up
Tony is right, swapping the heads on a car and retesting on thesame day is really the only way to see what the results would be.. doing so on an engine dyno would probably be a better test, as it would be alot easier to do and easier to get an accurate picture from.

Your 3.70 Moser 9" rearend is also taking away more power from the dyno than Patrick's little 3.42 10 bolt ever will. Although not cheap these heads look very interesting.

yup the car is no dyno queen it is a REAL daily driver, at the time of the article the car had a GM 10 bolt with 3.73s and 18' zo6 motorsport wheels
now the 10 bolt is no longer for this world it shattered
but a MOSER 9 w/ 3.70s and a locker are in its place now
I'm guessing that it alone would be worth closer to 10hp considering that would be close to a full point gain in compression.
I am looking into swapping out my 0.056" factory GM gaskets to a set of 0.040" cometics to get a little more low end grunt.
