This chirp is driving me INSANE!!!!

Second update..
My AC isn't working now.. So, maybe this time it WAS the AC compressor.
Damnit. Blows hot air... and when I flip the AC on the motor doesn't load up like normal....
Awesome. I'll have to check in the morning to verify if the belt is even there.
I guess that's better than a lifter... maybe not cheaper.. but it's not critical to my commute and a lot easier to fix. Damnit.

I have a 2000 T/A WS6 with A4 trans. I am experiencing the chirp noise. It sounds like its coming from the passenger side valve cover on the motor. I had a shop pop the valve cover off. they replaced some push rods and lifters that went bad but that did not do it. So if you found a fix. I know this thread was started a while ago. But can you post here or PM what took care of it? Other than selling your car OR rebuilding the block (if block was rebuild did they find what most likely could have been causing it?) Thanks!
