Default Metal slivers on dip stick

When I checked my oil, I found small metal slivers stuck to the dip stick. A new cam was put in around 2K miles ago, is this "normal"? Do I have a major issue pending?

Thanks!

Well, I'm not sure ..

The cam had only been in the car for 1/1.5K miles when I bought the car. I don't know if the previous owner had changed the oil @ 5xx miles or not.

I have put approx. 1K on it since. So, was gonna' change it this weekend anyway.

Some metal dust (fine particles) .. not much to speak of. The only slliver with any size to it was right at or just over 1/16th. There weren't a whole lot on there ... but more than I've even seen on a dip-stick. I'm really new to LS1's and this year model car ... didn't even realize the dip-stick wwas magnatized.

I don't have a camera that is high quality enough to take a picture of something this small. Wish I did though!

Oil pressure wasn't pegged .. I'd say it was normal.

if that's all, I wouldn't really worry about it. change the oil, and then keep an eye on it. fwiw, my first couple oil changes when the car was new, there was a lot of dust on the oil plug. almost shat my pants.

sounds reasonable ..

If I find anything unusual when I change the oil .. I'll post it up
