Default What Lifters To Go With?

Im gonna be doing a cam swap in the near future on my 99 WS.6. While im at it..im doing dual valve springs, hardened pushrods, timing chaing, possible ls6 oil pump..and was wanting to do the lifters as well. What are some good lifters to go with that arent gonna cost an extreme amount? Thanks

People are going to recommend Morel lifters, I've asked this question before... You can go with anything better than stock, IE high energy comp, or comp "R", should be able to get them for less than $200 for the R's, and around $150-170 for high energy's. Morels are expensive, but apparently the "best".

I've seen that before too, but something tells me something is a bit diffrent seeings how one is $125 and the other is $500. Persoanlly, if you can't afford the Morel's, I'd use the Comp replacments. Comp R's are to picky. Crane also makes some that will be fine as well.

I've been using the Crane stock replacements for a few months now. They're around the same price as other cheaper replacements. I had around 60k miles on my 98 and decided to swap them when I did heads and a bigger cam as well. My stockers looked fine, I just did it for piece of mind.

Yea, if the heads are off, just pull the old ones out and stick the new ones in.

there is really no reason to take out the stock lifters unless you are spinning your motor past 7000 IMO. then go with morels. all of the other lifters out there are basically just stock replacement stuff, meaning its not any better than stock. definatly not worth the trouble of pulling the heads just to change them.

Pretty sure the mighty ZO6 runs the same lifters as the Fbodies LS1.

Stockers should be fine with just a cam only car spinning under 6500.
I have never replaced my lifters and i have 50xxx miles on my car.
But if i were to do heads i would do the comp(oem) lifters IMO.

On my rebuilt I did Comp 850-16 (OEM replacement)
I've ran them before with no issues on cams up to .620 lifts and 6800 rpm shifts.

It is a good idea to change lifters on 99 especialy if you have the short squirt ones.

Summit racing has rebranded eaton lifters for just over 100 bucks. These are the same as melling, which futral uses in many of their motor buildups. Im using mellings right now, and im pleased with them. The morels are hands down the best, but youll pay for them. Also, bear in mind that teh summit/melling lifters are OEM lifters which will take the normal .080 - .100 preload, while the morel will take much less, .030 if i recall.

Also, unless youre planning on swapping or atleast milling the heads, id just keep the stock lifters in there. You MUST pull the heads to swap lifters. Its not like the ols SBC motors.

Those comps are the lifters I plan to use, didn't realize they would function correctly at those kind of rpm's. I wanted to be able to spin the motor to 7000 rpm max. Trying to find a set here too.
