Default Step it up THUNDER RACING

Texas Speed and Performance as you all know just relaesed the Magic Stick 4 not too long ago. Who's ready to see Thunder Racing step up the T-rex cam. I know big cam #'s don't mean everything but I think it would be cool to see them bump up the bumpstick. Who agrees?

It's just a matter of marketing. Any one of us could make a phone call and get most any cam imaginable.

I enjoy the creativity in naming camshafts. We have the Monster, the Trak, the Magic sticks, the Torquers, the CheatR, and many, many more, we even have a cam or two named after LS1tech members. It's all in good fun, or more aptly, marketing.

You guys have a nice afternoon. I'm going to work on my car and install a "Mamo" cam. (Sounds like this cam has something to do with breastssss. Another great marketing angle, we all love breasts )

You would have thought that TSP would have tried to make the MS4 a little bit more closer to the specs of the T-rex anyway. All they did was increase the duration by 2 degrees on the intake side. They don't even tell you the lift yet(kinda like LG), does anybody have a clue to what they may be.

At least naming camshafts makes it easier for everyone to know what cam they are talking about.Rather than part #'s

Here's the question...

Who's been leading the charge with cams made specifically for stock manifolds?

Who was the first company to widely produce cams with LSK/XE-R lobes?

Who's been designing cams that concentrate on building DCR and area under the curve (and not just peak numbers)?

Who grinds nearly as many custom cams as they do off the shelf cams?

Who supplies a Cam Pro Plus print out of every cam that goes out the door?

Thunder Racing.

Their commitment to pushing the leading edge has broken paradigms in the LS1 world and many competitors now recognize the benefits and have followed suit. In the end, the consumer wins.

I still have a TR 224/224 that I love. I have yet to be convinced why it would be worthwhile to switch after I look at other dyno graphs and compare it to mine.

I'm happy with my 350 ft/lbs of torque at 3200 rpm and my torque peak at 4600 rpm with ~400 ft/lbs.

C' mon man. You should be more than happy to give up that old camshaft for something new.... something that'll chew up springs, idle rough, reduce low-end torque, and hurt milage, but you will get an extra 15hp from it.

Long live the small cam.

Exactly, that's my point, I took the car on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year and averaged 25 mpg for the trip (not bad considering even on the highway I was running at 80 mph and playing). With long tubes, JPR stage 2 heads, and QTP headers, this thing is such a blast to drive around. With MACS and a mail order tune, the car made 427 rwhp and 398 ft/lbs of torque, but it was 390+ ft/lbs for well over 1200 rpm. When they started the pull it was a nice gradual rise in torque from 350 ft/lbs at 2800 all the way to redline, none of the on / off type of huge camshaft stuff.

Could I throw in a 237/254 cam with .650" lift and make more top end power, sure, but I shift most of the time below 3500 rpm, and that cam would suck down that low.

I just came out with the "Beast96Z" camshaft. It's a 263/263 .663"/.663" 106 LSA. It'll crush every valve/piston combo on the market and won't fit into ****, but hey, it's big so I guess I just stepped up the game.

You mean you are not willing to chew up springs for that extra 5ftlbs of torque?

and guys Comp grinds the cams for both of these shops, its not like you cant spec any cam youd like from ANY vendor....

That being said, Thunder has the best customer service and shipping on time record of any vendor Ive dealt with on Tech. Im always amazed when I order from Thunder, I get the tracking number before the end of the day.

AND I also LOVE my TSP PRC LS6 heads!!!

Some people want that extra 15-20 horsepower and love hearing that excuse when we drag your little cams ***
