Name me one other car that makes the power these cars do and recieves the same BEATING and lasts as long as these do... there aren't any. I've seen more honda 4-bangers blown up than i've seen LS1's.

My stock motor lasted 61k miles. It met its doom after a nitrous solenoid got some trash in it and stuck open while spraying a 250 shot. Didn't melt a piston or anything, had a HUGE nitrous backfire and subsequently sent enough force into the open cylinder to break the ringland.

How so?! Did you read my post? I was whippin' the **** out of that motor!! I can't think of another engine currently on the market that could take that kind of abuse.

I've blown two up

First was a rod bearing due to oil pump failure.
Second was a ringland/broken piston because of a lean condition / too much boost for the fuel system i had

I had a head gasket go bad and hydro-lock the engine.
Threw a rod a week after I fixed the head gasket the problem was not from the mods on my car. In fact the car was very strong until that point. Thats okay now I get a ls2 like my wife has.

I blew up my 99 Z28's motor w/55K miles on it. Spun two rod bearings & fractured a connecting rod. I had just put a TR230 & Patriot Performance heads on it. Well needless to say spinning the stock bottom end to 7K rpms & being one of the first "guinea pigs" for Patriot Peformance heads (shitty valve seals) didn't help.

Comes to be that the car went through 3qts+ of oil in 700 miles thanks to those valve seals.

'01 ss, 48k miles... hydrolocked(diesel fuel in gas from Shell), #1 rod bent, twisted, and snapped. piston went up, no real damage to head or valves, but it took out the side of the block(a true original ls6 block), shattered the oil pan, cracked the front cover, broke the a/c bracket, and shattered the drivers side mount for the steering rack. All that JUST at start-up. Nows its been about a year since that happened. New setup is almost ready to go in.

basically watch your oil level and if your a 6 speed car no missed gears. what i see is missed upshifts that turned into downshifts. these motors will really take alot of abuse, just take care of them, change oil and have a correct tune ect...

nope. i got gas on a thursday evening, got home, did a header swap and installed suspension parts friday-sun. went to fire it up sunday, started ok, then over the next 5 min started to run like crap. car had been garaged from time i got home till i started it so i know the tank was not tampered with. I was pouring raw fuel out the tailpipe bigtime. I messed with it till wed. by swapping out one injector(#3) that got stuck open from the oily mix, but i didnt find #1 until it was too late. I had the tank drained and tested, over 2/3 diesel. i reported it to the local police and called the NJ department of weights an measures, who regulate gas staions and such, they got there and tested the inground tank. The state rep said it happens more than you think but in this case, the tank they checked had seemed to been cleaned that weekend and was filled with fresh fuel so they have no proof and my fuel wouldnt hold up in court. so i was out of luck, but my extended warranty covered a new long block. so that went in the came back out to be modded my way finally. so all in all i guess it worked out.

What about any A4 guys with proper maintnence and oil level? My revlimiter is set to 6700 I was thinkin of raising it too 6900 but I dont want to risk blowing it up but I always run full synthetic oil changes every 3K and I check the level like every 3 days I drive it. Think I would have any problems?
