243 casting heads..
1800 does seem a bit high for a H.C swap but if you dealing with a well known shop I would say 1500-2250 would be a common price.
Especially if your doing lifters (which are easy but not normally replaced on a H/C swap) ported oil pump, dual timing chain, etc.
We charge a very similar price. I know when I used to do it out of my garage it was about 1000 for everything installed.
As far as the price of the heads, 1100 isn't to bad being they were not your castings. You had them ported cleaned assembled with new valves and a spring kit.
For those saying 1100 is high realize when you compair his heads to budget heads he has a extra 200 in valves as most other budget heads come with stock valves. That would take his total to 900 which included a good spring kit which is pretty decent.

Yeah JZ I had new lifters and lifter trays, push rods, timing chain and gears. New injectors so new fuel maps had to be done or whatever it takes. But head wise i paid more in parts than i did for machine and port work. I did a budget build really. If i would gone to an aftermarket company and got one of their heads i would be at min 1500 for a non stage 2 head. I saved $600 on heads, I saved over half on cam price the cam was like $150, and saved at least 300 in total labor from the surronding shops I have available over here. In the end the car pulls, i saved a little money and still maintain my gas milage for a DD 14mpg city and 26 freeway
