Default Head milling

I would like to mill my heads so that I can attain about a 11.0:1 Compression Ratio. I'm thinking that I will need to take about 0.1" off of the head. My question is if I do this, will my intake and exhaust valves still stay shut with stock pushrods and stock cam? Also, if I need to get something else, let me know. I'm just doing this because it's cheap, and will get me some easy HP until I can get the heads that I really want. Thanks guys

Welcome to LS1tech!

You'll need shorter pushrods for sure. It would be helpful if you mentioned what kind of car we're talking about. What kind of heads are on the car etc....

honestly you would probably be better off getting a set of slightly used or maybe new 243s.having to buy head gaskets, head bolts, mill the heads, and more p-rods and last but not least all the trouble of a head swap. i don't think you will be gaining alot, maybe 10 hp.i'd save up for a set of heads.

I hear that you run into intake alignment issues on a mmill over .050. Im currently running heads milled .040 and even with my valve reliefs im close to 11:1. Also, im running 7.400 PRs on a 1.450 base circle cam with .060 gaskets.

Stock lifters? Probably so, and enought where they picked up the slack.

If you had Morel lifters you'd have to redo the pushrods; they only require .030-.040 to begin with.

Also, I think Phil is running a 228R cam which, if I'm not mistaken, uses a smaller base circle. So in his set up, the milled heads call for a shorter PR but at the same time the 228R cam calls for a longer PR. They offset each other to some extent.

Ahh, I took it as strictly milling not, changing a cam at the same time.

lol Phil swapped in a cam and milled. However, I think the thread starter plans to mill and stick with the stock cam, but I shouldn't put words in his mouth.

Come to think of it, where is the thread starter? Is he a one post wonder?
