ETP heads... How much timing ???

ETP heads... How much timing ??? I finially got my short block back and wil be putting the car back together tomorrow. I was wondering about how much timing guys were running with their heads. I do not know if these heads like timing or not. I am running 12.1:1 CR with a quench of .035". I wanted to try and get a decent preliminary tune in it. I have a Comp Cam XE-r 244-248 112 +2, ETP 225 66cc, diamond -2cc pistons. Any input will be much appreciated...
By no means do I know much about tuning for these heads, but from what I've heard they don't like much timing at all. I wish I could give specifics but at least this'll bump for others with experience.

We have quite a difference of opinion here. Can everyone restate their numbers with compression ration, quench, octane, cam timing, and peak torque and power engine speeds. Also, if you aren't running a Fast 90 intake, please indicate the intake used (such as Harrop 55mm, etc.).
22° to 24° would indicate a very fast burn which should create lots of power.

they are very efficient heads,and if you set them up with the correct quench,then anything over 24* and you probably wont gain anything..Just start out with timing tables from an ls2 or a c5 z06.Then add timing from there and see if you gain anything,if you do it will be minimal...If you set them up with lower compression and a shitty quench then it probably closer to 28*.thats just my opinion.

flag on that. Your right. Everytime mike put alittle more timing in he lost power. Here is what I have. Can anyone tell me what my Quench is?
The heads are ET Performance 245CC 11* Heads. They have 2.080/1.600 Valves, REV Stainless Steel Valves, Manley Valvesprings, Locks, and Retainers, good to .650" lift. Combustion Chamber size is 64cc's. Compression will be exactly 11.3:1 using the stock GM 6.0L MLS Headgasket

you would have to measure your deck height to figure out what your quench will be.If the pistons come out of the hole at TDC say .010 and your stock gm gaskets are .060,then the quech would be .050.Thats how close the piston will be to the head...thats only an example..You want your quench to be around .035 to .038 for a street car.
