I guess people like this thread but it's been dead for a while.

I think Pat G woke it up yesterday then changed his post date to hide evidence....

But what do I know.

LOL, can't say nothing there...... I've been there before. Since this guy prolly isn't interested anymore I am still gonna say do neither of the two. If you are gonna do something do it right. Stock manifolds and a cam just defeats the purpose to me.

Stock manifolds and a tune are perfect for the CheaTR cam... In fact, thats what it was designed for. It was designed to give more power than the LS6 cam, but with the same smooth idle. Its a sleeper cam and most of the time, guys that want sleeper sounding cars, want sleeper looking cars as well, hence the manifolds.

I do suggest a tune, but hell... if you want a sleeper, get the CheaTR.

the cheater is great I have it in my car along with patriot stage II heads and made nice numbers and that was in a very conservative tune to compensate for hawaii weather. I believe it was 415hp 405tq. I have headers also full bolt on does not mean that the cheater will not work

The 224 got more votes but nobody cared to say why they picked it. Everybody that posted suggested the cheater exept for 1 or 2.

I had the TR 224 on a 114. Its a great cam, and losses nothing. I gave me 367 RWHP with all the bolt ons. That's stock 2002-2005 Z06 RWHP

No it's not. A stock c5 z06 will put down around 345rwhp.

To the OP, I'd go with the TR224 cam. The CheaTR cam will have a higher peak, and on stock shortblocks, thats not good. TR224 will probably make more power, and have a lower peak. Go with the tried and true...

I say get headers, then do the cam and tune. The tr224 is a good all around cam that produces good numbers and is very streetable. You can't go wrong with it.Good daily driver too.

I'm a big fan of the TR224. My car makes 432rwhp/403rwtq with mods in sig.

With that said, you will gain more rwhp with headers & a tune than the TR224 w/o headers.

extra bump on the hookers got mine 400 from speed coated player...
as far as the tune I think it would be nice to know why u don't want an intake and lontubes.?.....that would the smartest beacuse if u go with the 224 cam annd rhen get these exhaust mods after u did not take advantage of ur tune.....i vote intake header swap before anything ......with the dame money u are spending u can do so much more power if u just doi it in a diferent order....good luck anyway
