Well I set the comp cams adjustable pushrod to 7.400 (12 full turns of white line)
and compared it to my TSP 7.400 chromoly pushords and they were EXACTLY the same length...

What size pushrod should I go with, 7.350?

Does the 7.350 put you in the right preload range for the Comp R's? Sounds like you would have 0.003" preload. How did you come up with the measurement to 3 decimal places based on a tool accurate to 0.050", measuring the extension beyond the line alignment?

I measured by using 1/8th turns and at 7/8th turns is where I got zero lash while torqued at 22 ft lbs.

7/8ths of .050 is .04375. So my measurement was 7.343 so with .010 of preload for the comp r lifters it is 7.353.

You can start with the 7.350 pushrod. See what preload that puts you at. You can also buy 15 and 30 thousanths shims to stack under the rocker tray to adjust individual rocker preload. You want 1/4 to 1/2 turn for correct preload on the comp r's.

The shims are sold at paw, summit jegs. The ones I had are made by crane. Tighten the rocker bolts with the piston on top dead center compression stroke until zero lash. Then torque to 22ft lb. It should take 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the torque wrench to get to 22. Does that make sense?
