Default GM Performance parts announcement?

I hadn't seen anything on here about it, but a friend of mine that works for GM told me about some upcoming pimp deals GM performance will be having to get more into the mod market. I was a little suspicious, but yesterday in a hot-rod magazine, this was confirmed!!

I don't have all the details with me, but:

6.0L truck heads for the LS1 fully assembled - $750. They flow 330CFMs!!!!

LS6 "type" inake (much better than LS1) ready to bolt on to the LS1 (fuel rails, coolant lines, etc) with a 90mm TB - $475.

Anybody else come across this?? I would say that between this, a nice cam, long tubes and a tune, bye-bye modded Cobras, LS2s, and BPU TT Supras!!
Then, throw on a 100 shot...bye-bye LS7!

This is exciting...for $2,500, your screaming down the track!!...probably low 12s on street tires would be my guess.

I have heard of the L92 6.2L heads flowing that much, but not the regular 6.0L heads. The L92 stuff will require a different intake.

Im very interested in an ls6 intake with a 90mm TB. That would be very cool.

Maybe that was it then...the 6.2L heads.
The L92 heads and then they're offering the matching intake to go with it and the TB for $475. I guess it's like a package they're putting together for pretty cheap. I need to find that article!

WOW! That would be a hell of a package. Problem is that the 6.2L L92 heads require a bare minimum of a 4.0" bore, and even thats cutting it close. The valves are too big for a stock ls1.

L92 heads assembled pair $750 (PN 2582713)
Matching intake, 36 lb hour injectors, fuel rails and 90mm TB assembled $475
(PN 12580123)

They say it's for the LS1 engine.

The heads will only clear a 4.0" or larger bore. As for the intake, it wont work either unless on an L-92 head. The L92 head has a rectangular intake whereas the LS1 has a cathedral port. The ports aren't even close.

good info to know!

so another words you will have to fly cut, port match and check everything twice. meh... nothing out of the ordinary.

Flycutting will not make the valves fit in the smaller 3.898 bore. The valves are simply too wide for the cylinder. Also, the ports are very different from an LS1 cathedral port shape. You wouldnt be able to simpley port match. Youd grind into a water passage before you got them wide enough, plus the floors would need to be raised with epoxy or something.

This looks like it would be an excellent choice for heads and intake on a 402 stroker motor or even a stock LS2 motor. ut from all ive read, it dosnt look to be compatible with stock bore ls1's or ls1/ls6 intakes/heads.

How about on a stock LQ4? I'm thinking it would work great with a 224/224. ???

Probably, a 4.0" bore is a 4.0" bore

I'm not a huge tech guy...all I can say about this stuff is what I read and what GM has stated. They say all this stuff is for the standard LS1 engine. Perhaps they made some modifications to allow the fitment and compatability issues...

i read that article too and i dont recall it saying exactly that these parts are a direct bolt on to the ls1 but they didnt mention if they were specific to the 6.2 or 6.0 either. it just said that these parts are available from GM for cheap.

Oh, one more thing, if the heads are $750, and the intake is $475, how is that $2500 to be screaming down the track? I'm not trying to be a dick, but my math is different and I don't read that good.

My understanding is that the block will be iron and have a 4.125" bore. It should be offered as an aftermarket block through GMPP, but not used in any vehicles. I think they are trying to make the LSx platform viable for racing series such as NMCA.

Throw another $600 for a cam and valvetrain upgrades...some long tubes and a tune...that should put you well into the "mid" 400sRWHP. On a good set of tires, you're probably looking at low 12s if not very high 11s. I'm guessing of course,... but to me, that's screaming down the track seeing as how my best 1/8th mile time was a 9.014 with overinflated tires .

I'll bet that a cam only L-92 with heads milled to up compression will be right at 500rwhp.

I was just saying that the intake and heads only added up to $1175, and was wondering what else was being figured in for $2500 total. I'm thinking a 224/224 valvetrain, these heads and intake would be killer for my otherwise stock 6.0.

Flowing as much as theyre supposed to, they may actually be overkill. The might bleed off some lower end torque. Might think about keeping the intake duration smaller than usual with a big split. 224/230 might be the ticket if you want to have a mild mannered street car. If you only care about top end, then by all means go nuts! Dont forget your P to V may be compromised with the larger valves.
